Toss: To decide on who gets the first move in a game, a toss is used. A single card is dealt to all the players randomly and the one with the highest face value is called the winner of the toss.
Seat Shuffling: The seating arrangement of the players is decided on the basis of the order of the cards and the players are rearranged from the highest face value card to the lowest face value card. The one with the highest face value toss card gets to plays first and the lowest toss card player plays last.
Dealer: The dealer of a particular game is the one who plays last. The person who gets the lowest valued card in the toss is called the dealer.
- Joker: A Joker (randomly selected at the start of each game) can be used in place of any other card. E.g.: 5 ♥ 3 ♥ 7 ♥ is a sequence where 3 is the joker and is used in place of 6 ♥
- Printed Joker: In case a printed joker is selected as joker for a game, then players can substitute Ace card of any suit as a joker in their sets/sequences
- Sequence: A Sequence is 3 or more running cards of the same suit. E.g.: 5 ♥ 6 ♥ 7 ♥
- Pure Sequence: A Pure Sequence is a sequence without a Joker. Exception - 5 ♥ 6 ♥ 7 ♥ is a pure sequence even if 6 is the Joker
- Set: A Set is 3 or more cards of the same face value. E.g.: 3 ♥ 3 ♠ 3 ♣ or 7 ♥ 7 ♠ 7 ♣ 7 ♦
- Since the game is played with 1 or more packs, it is important to note that a set cannot contain cards of the same suit. E.g.: 7 ♠ 7 ♠ 7 ♥ is not a validset in games where 2 or more packs are used
Rules in Detail
- One or more packs of 53 (includes 1 printed joker) cards each is used
- A toss at the beginning of the game decides which player makes the first move
- Each player is dealt 13 cards randomly
- A Joker is selected randomly out of the deck and placed on the table. If the joker selected is a printed joker then players can also use the Ace card of any suit as joker. This means that in such a game there will be 9 or more jokers depending on the number of packs used
- The next card from the pack of cards is placed in the open deck slot indicating start of the game
- When it is a player's turn to play, the player may pick a card from either the open or closed deck
- Player must make a move in the allotted time
- If a player does not pick and discard a card within the allotted time, their turn will be considered as a missed move
- If a player misses 3 turns consecutively, the player will be dropped from the game. The game play will continue with other players
- To complete a move, a player must pick a card and then discard a card
- Cards discarded by players can be viewed under 'Open Cards' tab available next to the chat tab. Open cards tab will display all the cards that are currently present in the open deck slot
- If the first open card in the open deck slot is a joker, then only the players making the first move are allowed to pick the card.
- If a player discards a joker, the opponents are not allowed to pick the joker
- In case all cards from the closed deck have been used, cards from open deck are reshuffled and placed in the closed deck, except the face up card that is already in the open deck slot
- Each player is allotted some extra time per game
- If a player does not make a move in the allotted move time, Extra Time will start counting down
- When a player starts using Extra Time, the total extra time in which he/she has to make the move is displayed
- Extra Time allotted per game can be used across moves and declaration depending on total time left
2 Player Games
- There is no option for players to drop a deal in 2 player games.
- If a player misses 3 consecutive turns, he/she is dropped automatically from the game with a score that is equal to the hand score, but capped at 80 points.
More than 2 player games
- Each player gets an option to drop the game in their turn, throughout the game duration.
- To avail the Drop option, the player must not have picked a card from open/closed deck in that turn.
- First Drop - If a player drops the game in their very first turn, he/she gets 20 points.
- Middle Drop - If a player drops the game in a turn other than the first, he/she gets 40 points.
- Special case: If a player misses 3 consecutive turns, he/she is dropped automatically from the game. This means that this player gets a middle drop score.
- To finish the game, a player must discard a card into the finish slot
- When a player moves a card to the finish slot, the player must show the cards in hand by grouping them in sets/sequences and clicking on 'Declare' button
- Each player has to declare and show sets/sequences in the allotted time. If a player fails to declare by grouping the cards in hand in the allotted time, the player will be dropped from the current game and awarded 80 points. The game play will continue with remaining players until there is a winner
- A player finishing the game must arrange all 13 cards in sets/sequences. There should be at least two sequences, one of which must be a pure sequence
- For a validfinish, a player must declare jokers in hand as part of sets/sequences
Game Validation and Scoring
- Each card carries a certain number of points. The winner of a game gets 0 points. The losing player gets points equal to his/her hand score which is computed as follows :
- J, Q, K, A of any suit carry 10 points each
- All other numbered cards carry the same points as their face value e.g. 7 carries 7 points and 3 carries 3 points
- Joker cards carry zero points
- At the end of the game, a losing player's hand score is computed by adding points for cards that are not grouped as sets/sequences with the following exceptions
- If the losing player has no pure sequence, all cards are counted
- If the losing player does not have two sequences, but has a pure sequence, only the pure sequence is not counted
- A player can get a maximum of 80 points. For instance, if a player's hand score is 85 he/she will still get only 80 points. But if a player's hand score is 75, he/she will get 75 points. In case a player does not declare cards in sets/sequences that meet the objective of the game, the player is dropped from the game with 80 points
- Deal Show: If the losing player has not had his first turn before the opponent has made a validdeclaration, then :
- The losing player gets points equal to half of his/her hand score. For example, if the hand score for a losing player is 30 points, then the player gets 15 points as his score.
- The minimum points a losing player can get in this case is 2 (for scores 2, 3, 4, & 5).
- The maximum points for a losing player in this case is 40 (for scores 80 or more).
- Special case: If a player misses 3 consecutive turns, he/she is dropped automatically from the game. This means that this player gets a middle drop score of 40 points
- In case a player has met the game objective but does not declare, he/she is awarded a score of 2 points
- A validset must contain 3 or more cards of the same face value, which cannot be of the same suit
- A validsequence must contain 3 or more running cards of the same suit
- A validpure sequence must contain 3 or more running cards of the same suit without a Joker
- A Joker can be used in a pure sequence if it is of the same suit and forms a sequence of running cards
- Disconnection Protection: If your cards are already grouped and someone else declares, the grouping is taken into account as your declared sets and sequences
